Kōwhai Canvas Mural Competition
Mural Design - 2025
My mural for the Kōwhai Canvas is all about celebrating summer with a splash of my illustration style. I loved the idea of pulling together yellow-themed elements like honey and the beach to really capture that warm, sunny vibe. The mural ties into Ōtautahi’s New Brighton Pier and brings in touches of local flora and fauna.
I’m really happy with how the water flows through the design, and I love the playful details like the little bees and butterfly leading the way. There are also some fun summer quirks, like the melting
ice cream and a sandcastle, to keep things light
and cheerful. Most of my ideas came from brainstorming and getting excited about going into summertime. I wanted this mural to feel unique, vibrant, and full of the energy that summer brings!
